Why did my debit order not go off my bank account and how do I fix it?
This could be for a number of reasons. Please remember that it is your duty as a client to ensure that your premium is paid. If you notice that your debit order did not go off, please contact our admin department to assist you.
How can I change my level of cover?
You can change your level of cover at any time. Please send an email to our admin department, who will process your request and confirm once the change in cover has been activated.
What is the Schedule of Insurance?
This is your policy schedule. It contains all your personal details, as well as the details of your cover with us. This includes your premium, your maximum limit of indemnity per matter and all the beneficiaries on your policy. Please read your schedule carefully, and contact our administration department if you need to update any of the details.
What is a Disclosure Notice?
Your Disclosure Notice contains all information about the entities that provide your services. This includes the details of the Administrator (Legal Guardians), the Intermediary as well as the Insurance Company that underwrites the product. It further contains details of all the compliance officers for the various entities.
What is my policy wording?
The policy wording contains all the terms and conditions of your cover. It explains how to use our services, what is covered, and what is not covered by the policy.
What is meant by legal expenses cover?
Legal Expenses cover means that we will look after all your legal needs, in exchange for a small monthly premium. This includes legal advice, which can be provided with a simple phone call, further legal services like the drafting or checking of a contract, and should you ever be in a situation where you have to go to court, we will appoint a Lawyer to assist you at no additional cost to you. What is a Panel Attorney?
We have built an extensive national network of Lawyers over the last decade. These are all thoroughly vetted Lawyers, with a good track record of success. Should the need arise, we will appoint one of the Lawyers on our network to assist you with your case.
What if I have a Lawyer I want to use, but he/she is not on the Panel?
You may request the use of a specific Attorney not on our Panel, but the Attorney will have to work on our standard tariffs. If the Attorney refuses to work on our tariff, the Attorney may still be appointed, but you will be liable for any fees over and above our standard tariff.
Do I have a waiting period?
Yes, there is a waiting period of 60 days before you qualify for the legal representation benefit, and 6 months before you qualify for the Divorce benefit. There is no waiting period for legal advice services. Legal advice services can be accessed as soon as your first premium has been paid.
Do I have a cooling-off period?
Yes, you may cancel the policy within 30 days after the start date, and receive a full refund of any premiums you may have paid. This is not applicable if you have used any of our services in the first 30 days.
What is the inception date?
This is the first day your policy becomes active.

Who is covered by my legal policy?
This depends on the plan you have with us. This information can be found on your policy schedule.
Can I add additional people to my policy? How can I do that?
We have a family policy which allows you to add additional family members to your policy. Please contact our administration department to assist.
What number do I phone if I need help in an emergency?
010 446 8449. This number is available 24h for emergencies. If your matter does not constitute an emergency, please contact us during office hours.
What happens if I have an existing legal matter, is it covered by my legal policy?
Unfortunately, existing legal matters are not covered by your policy. We will be able to provide you with legal advice on the matter, but we cannot appoint an Attorney on your behalf.
Do I pay extra when I am referred to an attorney?
All legal costs and disbursements are covered by your policy.
Who will help me with my legal matters? Do they have legal knowledge?
We only use qualified legal advisers, with a minimum qualification of LLB.
What happens if my matter cannot be resolved over the phone?
We will request additional information. If it is not possible to be resolved over the phone, we will appoint an Attorney in your area to assist you.
Who will represent me in court?
A qualified Attorney who has been vetted and who is on our Panel of Attorneys.
Do I have cover for a case that occurred outside South Africa?
Unfortunately, we only cover cases that occurred within the borders of South Africa.
Are CCMA cases covered?
Can Legal Guardians store my will?
No. We will vet your will and can store a copy, but the original must be safeguarded by you.
What process do I follow when I am unhappy with the advice that I received?
There is a R120 000 cover. Do I get any of that money?
No, your legal cover amount is the maximum amount that will be paid to your Attorney in each matter.
Does my policy cover divorce?
This depends on the type of cover you have, but most of our policies do cover Divorce. Your specific policy wording sent to you with your welcome pack will confirm whether you have Divorce cover or not.
